SewPINK + Two Scoops Scrap Quilt Pattern

I am truly honored to be participating in this year's #SewPINK Initiative blog hop with byAnnie.com! As a part of my turn on the blog hop I have a fun and free scrap buster quilt pattern to share.

But first a bit about #SewPINK...

The #SewPink Initiative's mission is to raise awareness for all types of cancer throughout the year.

All this month we're participating in a blog hop to promote not just awareness, but also self-care, early detection, and support for those affected by breast cancer.

2025 marks my own NINE(!) year anniversary of becoming a breast cancer survivor so I'm more than happy to participate in this event.

Each day (Sept 30 - Oct 31) you'll find a new blog post of inspiration and education, as well as a fundraiser through the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and charity sewing opportunities. (find a clickable version of this calendar here, with direct links to each post)

I invite you to please go here and read through some of the helpful stats and info about breast cancer prevention and detection. And please please please keep up to date with your regular screenings! See or feel anything out of the ordinary? Contact a doctor right away. It saved my life, and it may save yours.

In the months following my breast cancer diagnosis, a group of sweet quilting friends got together to make a quilt for me, completely filled with scrappy heart blocks. I still feel so much love and support from them when I use it - even all these years later.

That quilt meant so much to me, so I want to give back in a small way by sharing a free quilt pattern that could be stitched up quickly as a comfort or healing quilt to be given to someone recently diagnosed, someone receiving treatment, or even to someone that has lost a loved one to cancer.

The Two Scoops pattern uses simple patchwork squares plus any 18.5" quilt block of your choice. I do include the Ice Cream Cones block pattern, but you can swap in any 12.5", 16.5", or 18.5" block in its place.

Want to personalize your quilt to show even more love for the recipient?

  • Personalize the quilt even more by asking friends and family to send in fabric squares that mean something to them, or have them write on a few of the squares, or even embroider a few of them with words or phrases.

  • Customize the colors - use what the recipient will love and use for years to come.

To make the Two Scoops pattern as versatile and useful as possible, I've added in details for using:

  • charm squares
  • layer cake squares
  • fat quarters
  • 1/4 yard cuts
  • 1/3 yard cuts
  • as well as scraps

Plus there are instructions for adjusting the pattern to use a 12.5", 16.5", or 18.5" block.

Don't forget to follow along on the rest of the #SewPINK blog tour. There's a new post every day in October and a lot of inspiration yet to come.

And check out this amazing resource created by our friends at byAnnie.com. It is a helpful chart containing all of the coordinating solids listed by type of cancer and the awareness month. All fabric manufacturers are included alphabetically along the top, and the solid colors are listed by name to make it easy to find and order them online if you need to!

See the chart here in this post, or click here to view a larger version, download, or print the chart.

And be sure to download your copy of the Two Scoops quilt pattern here!
