Old Quilt, Recent Photos

Last year I made my mom a quilt out of the Strawberry Lemonade line that was designed by Me and My Sister (for Moda). I finished it, boxed it up and shipped it off and then realized I had no photos of it. This last Spring I was up visiting her and took a moment to finally photograph my old friend. It really is like seeing an old friend again - after working so many hours on something and then sending it away for a long time. *sniff*

It's nice to know these little strawberries are being well taken care of. After seeing it again, I'm glad I used the pink checks for the binding, however I wish I would have cut the binding on the bias - but what's done is done!

Here's a link to the full line. For this quilt I just used a few charm packs and Kona cotton.

Picnic Anyone?

This one went to my sister Mindy as part of her Christmas present. I made it to be a picnic blanket, and named it "Blueberry Pie." Of course, she can use it for whatever she darn well pleases!

Here is a close up of a few of the blocks. I machine quilted it with a navy thread. The backing is the same dark purple that is on the border.

Quilt-a-long completed!

Ta-Da! I finally finished the quilt-a-long that I've been working on. I didn't need the finished size to be quite as large as the original, so I pieced my border differently. I love how it turned out though, and by the end of this quilt, my machine quilting skills had VASTLY improved (not to mention my confidence level as well!)
A view of the binding. The backing is the red / polka-dot that you can see peeking out.

Small Quilt / Wall Hanging

This is a small quilt (or wall hanging size) that I put together to practice my newly-acquired skill of machine quilting. This is a view of the binding. I found this great little tutorial on binding. I'll add a link to it in the sidebar - hopefully soon.
Here's a shot of the fabric I used for the backing.
