Several weeks ago I posted a photo of this quilt up on the design wall. She’s all finished now!

This was a custom order quilt designed to be similar to the quilt made by Amy Smart for her daughter. As I mentioned in a previous blog post, Amy just happened to have enough 4.5” squares leftover to create this quilt and I am SO very glad!
I loved working with all of these squares. Because they had been collected over time, they gave the quilt that heirloom feel.

Just as in the original quilt, the corners of the wide border are mitered – I love the look of that especially with the striped fabric.

I forgot to do a final measurement before shipping, but when I made the first sketch-up of the quilt it measured at about 75” x 93” -- a nice twin size

ReplyDeleteSorry...did you follow a tutorial for the mitred corners? I love them, they are challenging for me, the few times I've tried them.
ReplyDeleteI love this- so pretty!! I bought some fabric squares in these colors from Amy about a year ago. Mine will just be for a baby quilt. Would you happen to know the name of the fabric you used for the borders? Love the look of the mitered corners but not sure if I can do that. Great job!:) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh, the stripes were the perfect border. Wonderfully done!

PS - I love your mitred borders as well. I'm not brave enough for those yet!
Yay! It turned out so great! You even found the same stripe for the border! :) Awesome.
ReplyDeletewannabequilter - the fabrics are all collected from several years and several lines of fabric. Sorry!
