Cheer Up Quilt + Wanderings Fabrics

Cheer Up quilt by Andy of A Bright Corner - using Wanderings fabrics from Poppie Cotton

I'm happy to be able to share with you today a stack of new, pretty fabrics along with another finished quilt.  It's been a couple of busy weeks around here at A Bright Corner!

Wanderings is the newest line from Poppie Cotton and is shipping to stores this week!  And today is my stop on the Wanderings fabric tour.

Wanderings is filled with sweet pinks, soft blues, and a whole bunch of really lovely low volume prints.

I'm writing up a new version of my Cheerful pattern.  This one will have smaller blocks and a different layout -- and I knew these soft, floral Wanderings prints would be perfect for this new pattern.

I'd say that a good 80% of the time I tend to use bright, primary colors for my quilt projects - so it's been a refreshing change to work with this new, softer color palette.

It's just SO lovely - that wildflower print on white is my favorite from the line, followed closely by the sweet pink butterflies!

I love clicking through these fabric tours and seeing the variety of projects all made with the same line.  You really get a feel for how the prints play together, and how they might work in whatever project you're dreaming up.

You can find the full list of creators that are participating here on the Poppie Cotton blog.

We've seen some pretty things so far, and I've seen sneak peeks of some of the upcoming stuff and they're gooood!

My Fairy Edith Quilt

Twist Tie Quilt using Fairy Edith Fabrics - quilt by Andy of A Bright Corner

Hello everyone - and if you're new here, welcome to A Bright Corner!  I get the honor of being the final stop on the Fairy Edith blog tour.

Fairy Edith is Amanda Castor's (Material Girl Quilts) first fabric line with Riley Blake, and was inspired by her sweet great-grandma, Fairy Edith (yes that really was her name!)

This is such a pretty line - I love the delicate wreaths and wildflowers, and the little fairies with fairy dust.

The colors Amanda chose for this line are SO good - that deep blue (not quite navy, not quite teal) paired with the soft pinks, corals, and greens....it really was so fun to find the perfect way to use these prints!

Fairy Edith fabrics are now in stores and you can find them here at the Fat Quarter Shop

Split Stars Quilt Pattern

Happy Monday - and say hello to Split Stars, my newest pattern now available in the shop!

Split Stars pattern - crib size in Kona solids - pattern by Andy of A Bright Corner

Split Stars was originally published in Love Patchwork & Quilting Magazine a couple of years ago and is a modern take on a traditional star block.

This new version has a just a few small adjustments to the original design and - more importantly - I have added THREE new sizes to the pattern!

It now includes instructions for crib, throw, twin and queen size quilts.

This pretty blue version is the throw size (64" x 79") and uses prints from the Something Borrowed fabric line by Christopher Thompson

The throw size only needs 10 different prints, but it looks like more, doesn't it?  The way the blocks are paired up makes it appear as though more prints are used in the quilt.  Although now I'm thinking a completely scrappy version would be fun too!

This all-solids version is the crib size (49" x 64") and was made using six different Kona cotton solids.  (Kona colors used: CopenWindsorPoppySalmonSunflowerPeridot)

I just love how the personality of the quilt changes when it's made with all solids, don't you?

Something Borrowed Quilt + Split Stars

Happy July everyone!  I have a quilt to share with you today, along with a new fabric line by Christopher Thompson (a.k.a. The Tattooed Quilter).

This pretty line is called Something Borrowed and it will be arriving in shops this month!  You can see more of it here on the Riley Blake website.

So here's a fun fact about me.  I decided in the 5th grade that my favorite color was blue and it's been that way ever since.

Every blue.  All blues.  Love them all.  On top of that, blue has been one of the school colors at EVERY school I've ever attended.  Crazy, huh?

I was just meant to be a blue fan.  And this line is SO right up my alley.

To show off these lovely blue prints, I decided to re-make my Split Stars quilt  - it was originally in Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine a couple of years ago.

But don't worry about trying to dig up the magazine...I'll be making a new version of the pattern available in my shop on Monday - with 3 new sizes added in!

I just love the combination of florals and geometric prints in this line.  And Christopher did a great job at finding the perfect soft grays that complement both the navy and the light blue prints.

And I have to give him a big ol' high five for including a bias stripe in his line - my#1 choice for a quilt binding. Isn't it great?

You can find Something Borrowed here at the Fat Quarter Shop and look for it in your local quilt shops soon!

Happy sewing, and I'll see you on Monday with more information about the Split Stars new pattern.
