Confetti Cotton Solids + Skipper Quilt

Skipper quilt pattern by Andy of A Bright Corner - a fat quarter quilt made with Confetti Cotton Solids from Riley Blake Designs

I've been sewing with a lot of solids lately and I've sure had fun trying out some new-to-me color combos.  It's good to get outside of your comfort zone every once in a while, right?

For this re-make of my Skipper pattern, I chose 10 different colors of Confetti Cotton Solids from Riley Blake Designs.  I was going for kind of an end-of-Summer-but-not-yet-Fall look to the group.  How'd I do?

I love the richness of the fuchsia, purples, and Jade color - but the yellow helps keep things on the more "summery" side of things, and brightens up the whole group.

Here's the full list of colors used:

Denim, Jade, Purple Mountain Majesty, Fuchsia, Raspberry, Grass, Clover, Beehive, Purple, and Iron.  The sashing is Light Gray, and the binding is Denim.

The Confetti Cotton Solids are some of my most favorite solids to work with - they have a nice hand to them.  They're soft, and drape nicely without being thin.  They press well and have a nice, crisp crease without needing steam.

The pattern I used is called Skipper.  I released this one two years ago and I've wanted to do an all-solids version ever since!  I can't believe it's taken me this long to get around to it.  Sheesh!

Skipper is a fun pattern, and it's a fat quarter friendly quilt (my favorite).  The blocks look more complicated than they actually are - I promise!

You can find PDF copies of Skipper here, and paper copies here.

For the backing on this quilt I chose a Swiss Dot in Gray from Riley Blake Designs - it coordinates without competing for attention.

And for the quilting I did a loop design called Wish Bone.  I wanted an all-over design that would add a little texture (since there's none in the fabrics themselves) and something with some curves to it to soften all of those angles in the blocks.  Wish Bone was perfect!
