Blogger’s Quilt Festival

Welcome to all of the readers here from the Blogger’s Quilt Festival!  The quilt I have chosen for this go-round is my Hexing Around quilt:

A Bright Corner: Hexing Around Quilt

I’m in an online quilting bee called Imagine at do. Good Stitches.  My month was April and I chose a block tutorial by Lee who blogs at Freshly Pieced

This quilt is one of my all-time favorites, but what I love best about this quilt is the idea that a group of women from around the country can each contribute a few fabric scraps and a little of their time and the result is a lovely quilt that will make its way to someone who needs it!  (the charity our particular group sews for is Threading Hope.)

Each member of our bee chose one color and then made two blocks using scraps from that one color group.  It was such fun to open my mailbox that month and see what prettiness each member had sent me.

For the quilting I chose to do some free-form wavy lines horizontally across the quilt.  That was my first time trying out the waves and I quickly became a fan.  I’ll be using those waves again!

  4. Awesome entry for the festival! Did you free hand the wavy lines, or use a wavy stitch on your machine?
