I always look forward to the week of quilt market, when we get to see sneak peeks of the fabrics that will be coming to stores in the months ahead. Due to Covid restrictions, last Spring's market was all virtual. I tuned in as much as I could and I remember when I first got a look at this new line by Pat Sloan called Morrison Park. I immediately fell in love with all of the pretty blues!
Fast forward to fall 2020 and these prints will soon be in stores! Pat is hosting a project tour so we can get a better look at this pretty line she has designed.
For my project I chose to use just the greens and blues from Morrison Park along with my pattern, Layer Cake Lucy (find copies of the pattern in my shop).
Below you can see more of the prints from the Morrison Park line. I love how bright and cheery it is. Click here to see more on the Benartex site.
I originally designed the Layer Cake Lucy pattern to help you use those stacks of pre-cut squares that we ALL have in our stash and on our shelves. But if you'd rather use yardage you totally can-- and that's what I did for this quilt.
To make a Layer Cake Lucy quilt with yardage, you'll need 11 (1/3 yard) cuts of fabric. Then from each 1/3 yard, cut 4 (10") squares and you're ready to start on the pattern.
The blocks are simple to make, and the pattern looks great in any fabric. You can see some other versions of it here in this blog post.
As pretty as this blue and green version is, I couldn't help but try out a version in EQ8 using all the warmer colors from the Morrison Park line. Which one is your favorite? Warm or cool?
Grab a copy of Layer Cake Lucy here in my shop - both PDF (instant download) and paper copies are available.
Now, are you ready for a little inside scoop? Over on Instagram I'm holding a giveaway for a 10" stack of Morrison Park plus some fun extras. So be sure to head over to IG (@abrightcorner) and find my most recent Morrison Park post for the details!
