Second Look Sunday: Zoo Dwellers

Happy Sunday!  Time for another Second Look Sunday post.  For those of you that are new followers, on the second Sunday of each month I highlight and share a quilt tutorial from past years that you might have missed the first time around.

Zoo Dwellers - a fun & free quilt pattern from Andy of A Bright Corner. This crib size fat quarter quilt would be quick to make!

This month I chose to re-share a favorite crib size quilt tutorial.  This one only needs 7 fat quarters and some background fabric to make a 48" x 55" quilt.

The pattern is called Zoo Dwellers, based on the fabrics that I made the very first version from oh-so-many years ago (2011).

I love how quickly this quilt comes together- there are no blocks to piece, or triangles to trim.  Just find some favorite fabrics and let them be the star!

You can get access to the free PDF download pattern here, and if you make a Zoo Dwellers quilt & want to share it, be sure to use the hashtags #zoodwellersquilt and #abrightcornerpatterns so we can all see your creations!

And if you're not quite ready to make a Zoo Dwellers quilt but want to save it for later, take a second and pin this image below so you can find it when you need it!

Happy sewing!

  2. I love making quilts for the NICU when I have a spare day to sew. This is a great one just for that. Thank you for being so generous to share.

  3. Thank you for generously sharing this wonderful FQ quilt pattern. This will be perfect for some directional print fabric that will work better horizontal than vertical!

Happy belated Mother's Day(although every day is mother's day!)

  4. Thanks so much for sharing your pattern. I'm hoping I'm lucky enough to get the top done today. If not I'll be happy with getting the cutting done.

  7. I realize this is an older pattern, but it's adorable. Has anyone slightly altered it to add 1 more small block to each row. I noticed that there is ample fabric in the fat quarters to do so. I am using a sashing fabric from my stash and think I have enough to cover this small bit of extra, but I'm a beginner to intermediate quilter. Hope it turns out OK.

  8. I made my sister a bear claw quilt for her camper using that fabric, and I just loved it. I have a lot of the fabric left over- I think I'll be using it with this pattern! So cute! Thank you for the free pattern!

  9. I have been looking for a pattern that uses FQ's for a little boys quilt, I really like this pattern because the pieces aren't cut up to small and will really show off the cute animals in my FQ's.
I can see using this pattern for other FQ quilts as well. Thank-you for sharing your pattern!
